Solix gen 2 transducer compatability with gen 1

I was wondering if anyone knew whether the new g2 si transducer will work on a gen 1 solix. Humminbird says they are not compatible. I understand I won't have mega + imaging but I was hoping I could have the new 2d low q feature. Anyone tried?

If you are only wanting the 2d just get the transom or shoot thru dicer with the y cable, you will save money

That is a good idea , but also does anyone know if the gen 2 si transducer provides better imaging or will even work on a gen 1 solix. Thanks for the idea

Let us know if you try it. Too rich for my taste. It has longer elements in the transducer which should make an improvement, but not sure if it will be noticeable.
