    map cards for NY water

What SD map cards does everyone prefer in the GPS units, I am asking in the NY site because in other areas some cards maybe better than others I am interested in NY. I have always used the Navionics cards but was wondering about the Lakemaster cards?

Depends on the individual lake you fish the most
If you fish tournaments, check for each lake
Lakemaster does not cover every lake in Upstate NY
I run both cards for this reason
I used Navionics for the past three years but just upgraded to new Humminbirds and am starting to like the Lakemaster charts a lot

i have used humminbird for years and also just upgraded to G3N units and that was what made me wonder about which brand card to use. As i said in my post i have the Nav plus cards already for both units and wondered if the Lakemaster was worth the added investment.

I carry both Navionics and Lake Master for the Lakes that are mapped in HD.

i checked the lakemaster lakes and see Cayuga, Oniedia and Conesus are all listed as High Def lakes now, that is interesting to me, what surprises me is Erie and Ontario are not even listed on them

I use navionics mostly because Lake Master doesn’t have the quality I want with the smaller lakes I fish. And if the card doesn’t have it, the navionics phone app usually does. I’m half tempted to get a Garmin that generates the contour map for you just so I can have the most accurate maps for the the lakes o fish.

^ I will be heading out to Cayuga Saturday so I can let you know what the Lakemaster chart looks like out there
Erie kills me that it isn't on there too
I have the Autochart chip as well that is pretty cool for learning more about a spot but I wouldn't rely on it to map an entire lake (time consuming and a lot of memory)

I have the Lakemaster Northeast V1 and V2 cards. I was pissed when I found that Cayuga wasn't on the V1. I bought the V2 when it came out and the map is pretty sweet for Cayuga.

Great thanks, I hope the fishing went well for you, I heard on a paper tournament there it took 30 pounds to win Saturday

Yes the paper tournament was really impressive. We had over 20 and took 12th out of 23. That lake is really healthy! Sorry again for the delayed screenshots. I had an issue with my graphs but I was able to resolve last night.

Navionics is for sure going to have the most coverage in any region of the country. I use Navionics when I go to Northern lakes and it works great. Sure, it really depends on the lake, but overall, Navionics is the clear choice if you are looking for a card with the most surveyed lakes.

I'm sorry, but I cannot agree with that blanket statement. My buddy has the Navionics chips and I have the Lakemaster and he's switching. While his card has more lakes listed, he's encountered that the majority have very little detail. We fish everywhere from NC to NY and thus far, the best mapping has been on the Lakemaster cards.

Just buy a Navionics chip and then individual HD lakes using HB's chart select. Fairly inexpensive that way.

These are just a few shots from the north end of the lake
The maps are really accurate and reliable
There were things I was seeing on Lakemaster that I wasn't seeing on Navionics
PS the third picture is where the elites will take off from this summer at Union Springs

They are probably in full spawn up there. If not, they will be by the end of the weekend.
