This is not in anyway a permanent long term fix for the weld eating into the bunk. This will however stop the boat from wearing prematurely to the bunk boards.
Like the pics used above, Bass Cat boats have a hook designed in the rear of the hull. This sits directly on the bunk. Bass cat cuts a single piece of carpet ( fits just the top of the bunk) and its glued to the bunk. Than the bunk is wrapped with a second layer of carpet . Its a heavy 24oz product and lasts a very long time. Even with the weight of the boat, 250hp engine, it doesn't eat thru to the bunk. (Unless you power unload like me without floating the rear a bit)

All of these issues can be resolved by simply reducing the bunk board length to end just in front of the area cutting into the bunk surface. Some of the BCB can't do this easily as the rear mounting bracket attaches right where it needs to be cut off.

^^^^ this. Vexus is doing a very similar process now on all trailers being built. It is having positive feedback.

Can’t believe someone would not load to the front roller. Unless Vexus is doing something way different on their trailers I would think it would bounce like hell driving it around. I can tell a huge difference if my Ranger is 1” short of the roller.
There’s no use being stupid if you’re not willing to show it off.
And mikesXpress may be right. The best solution might be to just shorten the bunks. I think I can make them last through this season and maybe longer by getting my fishing partner to back in further. That’s what I did today. Driving it up on the bunks even with these slides isn’t going to work in the long run. Three trips on the slides.

According to Vexus you do NOT want to shorten the bunks as I asked if this was a viable option.
Having the transom hanging over the back of the bunks on an aluminum boat can cause problems. It can cause a hook to form at the back of the hull and in some cases it can crack the metal where the bottom meets the transom.
I don't claim to be an expert on today's boats but have seen these problems when I worked at a boat dealer in the 1990s.
I will have my replacement bunks(short bunks) this week. I am "hearing" positive feedback on the new process Vexus is doing to correct the issue. The common theme though is also to back the trailer in a little deeper. So I have already adopted that and honestly. I do feel a difference in loading it to the roller. It is a little deeper than any of the boats I have loaded, but every setup is different.

Skids are holding up better than just a single layer of carpet, and if I can adjust the way we back in when taking the boat out it “may” be a solution until a better one comes along. My second trip out my partner didn’t back in as far as needed as that particular ramp is shallower. I had difficulty powering the boat up on the bunks thus the damage you see. Yesterday I backed in too far, but it’s summer and I can wade with my sandals no problem to get it winched up. Somewhere in between too shallow and too deep will be as they say “just right”. I still love my Vexus. Every boat I’ve used since I was kid had some aspect to it that you adjusted your routine around to make for a great day. You guys know the outboards that required pumping the bulb until it was hard as a rock before it would think about starting. Trailers have their adjustments to be made as well.
Yesterday I got to blow it out with just me in the boat and a little bit lighter load than usual. It got to 58mph so fast I couldn’t believe it. Didn’t get to go faster as everyone was out on Father’s Day and there were too many big waves. I’m pretty sure I can get to 60mph by myself if I can get the right water conditions. Pretty good for a 90 degree humid day. Love that Evinrude. Cruising at 52 going around a bend in the lake, get to the straight stretch and put the throttle to the floor and the bow lifts instantly and you’re doing 58 in a few seconds.
A guy with his girlfriend was just cruising around the national forest when I was putting in yesterday. As I was walking back from the dock to my car and trailer still at the boat ramp he said, “That sure is a good looking boat”. When I got back from parking he was standing beside it and helping hold it away from the dock. He asked me a dozen questions about it and said he was going to research it. He guessed the price within a few hundred dollars, so he must know boats. This gets to be a daily occurrence at the ramp and the gas pump.
