What trailers do you recommend for a 1/4oz or 3/8oz Sixth Sense Swim Jig?
3.8” BPS Speed Shad, Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper, Yum Pulse, Gary Yamamoto 4” Zako, BPS 4.5” Sassy Sally are my normal trailers for swimming in open water over vegetation, or throwing in/through pads and grass. If I’m going to yo-yo the lure much I use a 3.5-4” twin tail grub style trailer.

Grub or Z-Craw Jr for me. I like a BBB 5" "Finesse Grub" or Zoom Fat Albert, which is the same size as the BBB despite being listed as only 3" .
I've stuck a Keitech or Little Dipper on them before and caught fish, but never felt like it was any better than the grub or craw trailer. For the cost it's an easy choice for me.

Z Craw Jr. in a color that matches the jig.

RI little dipper or Z craw Jr.
I always have swimjigs rigged with a 3.8" Keitech, a Little Dipper and a Baby Rage Craw close at hand.

Can't wait to try the RI Spicy Beaver on a swim jig. Looks like it will have a killer action.
Yes.
I've experimented with both and caught a lot of fish with it both ways. I like to think with it vertical it looks more like a bluegill and with it horizontal maybe a fleeing crawfish, but that's giving the fish too much credit. Realistically, the biggest consequence is altering how deep it runs. Horizontal you get a lot more lift and so it runs shallower and/or you can work it slower. Vertical it sinks quicker. Try different things to see what's working on a given day!
On a similar note, something I've mentioned before but that's maybe worth mentioning again: You can dramatically alter how deep a swim jig (and to a lesser degree, a spinnerbait) runs by changing the orientation of the trailer, particularly with grubs and boot-tail swimbaits. If you put it on with the tip facing down, the swimming action pushes the jig up in the water column. If you rig it with the tip facing up, the swimming action pushes the bait deeper. You can alter how deep the same exact swim jig will run for given retrieve speed by as much as a couple feet just by putting the trailer on one way or the other. It sounds crazy until you try it! It can be extremely useful when fishing different times of the year or different lakes/conditions so as not to have to have as many "in between" jig sizes if that makes sense.
