    Ranger 1989 371v

Looking at buying a cheaper bass boat and I am wondering if you guys would consider this a decent deal. It’s a 1989 371v with a 1990 175hp Yamaha V6 on it. From what it looks like it has a Helix 5 on the bow and a 7 on the dash. It also has the added platform to make the front platform bigger which I like. Trolling motor is a 80lb fortrex. I can get the boat for $5500. Barring everything works and the transom is good what are your opinions on it? Anyone have any experience with this model and or motor? Thanks

I had a 1988 363V for 22 years. All of the 300 series Rangers were good boats, it's all about condition. I have no experience with Yamaha engines. Sounds like a good price. If everything checks out that is boat you'll have for years.

Assuming no major issues, $5,500 is a solid price w/ a newer trolling motor and a couple graphs. I gave $5,200 for my 1990 374v 2 years ago without graphs and the original 12/24 trolling motor.

I picked up a 1990 362V with a Yamaha ProV150 this winter for $4000. It has the factory deck extension, Yammy gauge set. No prop, Humminbird 858ci, 65# Maxxum. I've got some carpet to do, already straightened out some wiring, new fishing seats and pedestal bushings. They stopped using wood in the transoms in '87, so unless yours took a blow, it should be good. The decks, floor and rod boxes (I think) are wood, so give them a good stomp. With current electronics and the 175hp, your deal sounds pretty darn good. I'm liking the ProV (haven't looked at the gas bill yet)

I had a 371 at one time, really liked it, and never had any issues with it. It was a solid rig.

FBD0771E-FFA9-478F-B64C-36FE1A59E7AC.jpeg Update: I ended up getting the boat. The boat is in prestine condition. Took it out for the first time yesterday and the guy at the bait shop said to me “you either spend all your time shining up your boat or you never go fishing at all”. Also caught my limit of crappies. Now just waiting on bass to open up here in MN.

Nice boat! Twitch and I both have the same color scheme. Lots of info here, when you have questions just ask.

An 89 shouldn't have any wood in the transom. Most things I've read say that they started changing midway through 87 and were all composite by 89.

My 362 will soon be 3 decades young. Best boat purchase I ever made back in 1990.

She looks great! I picked up that same boat/motor this winter. What are you running for a prop, and how's the performance? I'm only running a 5" or 6" plate - looks like you have a good bit more?

    Thanks!

Appreciate the compliment!, running a 25M prop with a 10 inch plate. Bump 61 mph with 500 lbs of fishermen and gear. The ProV is solid.

Maybe it’s just the picture, but it doesn’t look like the front casting deck is elevated like the 361 or 391. The lower casting deck reminds me more of a 360, 370, 364 or 374.

I might be wrong, but I’m almost sure the 371 had the higher casting deck...someone correct me if I’m wrong.

I believe the 371 was like the 374 and not elevated.
