Anyone Using a MK Ulterra on Your Tracker?

I have a Pro 170, and I have about decided to upgrade to an Ulterra trolling motor. I would appreciate any Ulterra owners feedback/experiences about your likes and dislikes on this TM. I am really concerned on whether or not there is enough room up front to mount the thing? Also, how difficult is it to mount it? Does it make your time fishing more enjoyable, or has it been an expensive pain in the butt? Your input would be very much appreciated.

I have a 170 as well and just put a Maxxum on mine. Can’t speak directly to an ulterra, but install wasn’t too bad. Only problem is you will have no access to unbolt the old one and bolt the new one when you take that front panel off. There is literally only a 1.5” gap. I ended up doing a recessed tray as well so I could reach up through that hole. Also, reaching the two bolts at the front of the bow was really tough. Tracker didn’t even bolt the front of the stock motor down, they just used screws because it’s a tough squeeze. The Maxxum takes up quite a bit more room than the POS Edge that comes on it, but it still fits just fine.

I just installed a MK Ulterra on my Pro V 16. 45" / 80 lb. fantastic. Plenty of room. I mounted the puck on the right side of console.

I went with an Ultrex - the biggest pain was getting 3 batteries in the back...

If I had to do it over I'll go with the Terrova. Ulterra nice when its working but everything I go to deploy and stow I hold my breathe. I got the never Bluetooth version too!

I have one on my TV18, but havent used it but once to set the GPS
    for the anchor feature.
I'm waiting on a custom bracket from "Cornfield Crappie" to
    mount my HDI Transducer.
All I know so far, it maybe above my intelligence grade in operation.

I have fished out of mine twice. I havent used the remote yet,
so I dont have the nerve to launch w/it w/o practice. On occasions the
deploy button on the pedal is slow or non responsive until you
tap it several times. Anyone know what that problem maybe.
The anchor feature is the cats meow. I'm not sure that you can get
use to the herky /jerky direction control of the foot pedal. I hope the
    remote is smoother.

I found the remote much easier to use. I would typically use the foot pedal to control left and right and the remote to control speed.

The right /left on the pedal is the problem. It over reacts
to the touch. I havent been able to stop the excessive
right left movement. to make it go straight ahead. I've
been used to a cable drive, and could run one in the dark
and tell by foot position which direction I was going. There
is no such feel to this pedal. LDS
