    What family SUV?

In the market for a USED SUV for the fam, which includes two teenage sons and a wife. Occasionally we will throw the mother-in-law into the baggage compartment to drag along on outings so it's gotta seat at least 5 comfortably and have room for luggage etc...Here is the kicker, I would like to haul my 18 ft bassboat on family weekend trips instead of using my work truck. We currently have a 2010 Ford Flex with a V6 turbo and I do not feel comfortable pulling with that vehicle, so it's got to go. Top dollar is $30k but would feel better if it was cheaper. Any suggestions based on experience?

I pulled my 2015 Nitro Z7 with a 2013 Ford Explorer XLT with the standard 3.5L for many years, was pulling a 1990 Ranger 361V before that, never an issue and plenty of room for my three kids plus hockey gear. Did a fine job pulling the boat, would slow down a bit on big hills.

Just upgraded to a 2017 Expedition EL Limited for close to your price point back in January. The 3.5L EB engine pulls the Z7 like it is not back there at all. Nothing wrong with the Explorer but the kids are going through a picking at each other phase and the wife was getting tired of it and wanted more room. So I got her more room, now she wants to keep the Expedition for herself and make me drive her Fusion. She loves the Android Auto integration and being able to use Waze.

We are pleased with our Durango. We have the split seats in the second row. Third row seats flip down if not needed. 6 cylinder that tows my 18'Stratos just fine. Have had it 3 years with just over 37k trouble free miles.

My wife drives a Tahoe and we like it. But recently we were on vacation and had a Nissian Armada rental...wow talk about roomy and comfortable. We loved it!

We've been driving a Yukon Denali from work for the past 2 weeks. Kids love it. It is very nice, I just don't enjoy driving an Suv. Don't mind our Hummer, but that's as Suvish as I can get.

Dodge Durango. They can haul more than an explorer or traverse, have a Pentastar engine with 8 spd transmission, 3rd tow seating and they have that muscle car look. Best part is they tend to be thousands less than the other brands. We picked up our2014 Durango SXT with 40k miles on it for only 20,000 with a lifetime powertrain warranty.

Oh and for gas gas mileage we get 24-27 mpg daily driving and 19-21mpg towing my 17.5’ Nitro

I just bought my wife a GMC Acadia loaded for under $30 brand new two weeks ago. It has a third row if needed. Im not sure id want to pull a boat with it. I plan to pull our sea doo with it but not sure it can handle the big boy behind it.

Toyota 4 Runner, Sequoia, or Ford Explorer will work.

Most comfortable ride out there in SUV world is a Suburban. Pulls the boat like a dream, hauls the entire family, and gives you plenty of cargo room in the back. I am on my 2nd one and love them.

Toyota Sequoia, and Lexus 470 would be my choices. The 4Runner would do in a pinch but 5 is really tight.

Have a lexus gx470, love it. For that price point could probably find a pretty nice 200 series cruiser

4Runner, Sequoia, Lexus GX460 but they’re hard to find with low mileage under $30,000.

My parents are on the third one I think and like it enough to be repeat buyers. On occasion he has pulled his 21' Triton and they pulled a pontoon boat from KY to FL once. I think it is a very nice, comfortable and roomy vehicle.

Been towing with this. Yanks my 21 ft ranger around with ease. 2018 is when they went to a new body, so you can get a killer deal on the 17s.

I don’t think you could go,wrong with an Explorer. We will be getting the wife either an Explorer or a Mazda CX-7 soon and either will pull a boat just fine. No it won’t do 90 in the hills or stop like a 3/4 ton but plenty of people seem to get by with less! Good Luck!
