    Water Pressure and PTP?

So i'm at 3.5 PTP and while i have good performance and speed, at WOT im gettin around 26 psi on the water pressure. Does that sound right or can I lift the plate up more?

Boat is 20PHX with 2 stroke proXS and manual plate.

Sounds right for your height. You can go up another 1/4"-1/2".

2 stroke ProXS rides well closer to 3" PTP on 8/9 series Phoenix hulls with a Fury 3. Assuming this is the prop you have? If so, I wouldn't go higher than 3" PTP..

Yes im running the Fury 3 25P.

My top speed is by myself, light tackle and full tank of gas is 77-78mph.

2 people and loaded down is 74mph.

but with the water pressure that high i was thinking i might have more to room to work with height and get some more speed.

It's worth a try but on my V8 4S I lost speed and gained RPMs. I forgot I had the hyd jackplate all the way up (20 on the gauge) and took off. It was running 71 MPH @ 6250 when I lowered the jack plate to (15 on the gauge) speed picked up and Rs went down. My guess is on your 20 PHX, it's currently set about right based off your speeds.

More height does not equal speed. I’d leave it where you are. 78 mph is top performance on that rig. With a hydraulic plate you could probably gain some speed but it won’t be insane. Maybe 1-2 mph at the most in certain conditions and the speed gain will occur when you are under full load based off your light load numbers. You either ptp to heavy loads and sacrifice top end when running light or you ptp to a light load and loose performance at a heavy load. With a Manual plate you have to choose 1 or the other. With hydraulic you get the best ptp for any load with the flick of a lever up or down.

Thanks for the advice Bart and haus. I'm happy with my speed and performance now. Just didnt know if there was a little room to play to get some more top end out of it, but sounds like im good where im at

I have to agree, if you are getting 78 I would not mess with it, you did not mention your RPMs but if they are around 5900 or even 6000 with a 25p at that speed thats very low prop slip

Most Phoenix boats with the 250 run best around that 5850 rpm. I know when I hit 79.5mph with mine I was at 5850. I’ve never got back to 79 but I’ve hit high 78s and I was always in the 5850 range definetly never over 5900. I have hit 5900-6k with my 25 fury but it’s usually 76-77 at best.
