Tons of great guitarists with different styles. Igor is pretty darn salty himself.

No discussion of world's greatest guitarists would be complete without including jazz greats, Al Di Meola and John McLaughlin...

Good thread....lot's of great great very talented guitarists listed. I have always had trouble with the term "greatest or best in the world"; that being such a subjective concept dependent on the individuals perception. However, I believe that it is possible to say that one man, Jimi Hendrix was the greatest guitarist of all time. He achieved heights with his instrument that no one has ever really duplicated. He could also set aside the psychedelic sounds and lay down some 12 bar blues chops that were as good as any blues man ever. That was all done playing left handed with a up-side down right handed guitar. Most accomplished guitarist will say you can try but you never can quite duplicate what Hendrix was doing.

He's been gone so long most folks today have never really seen him perform. Watch this and see if you don't agree that he was certainly one of the very greatest of all time..

Have to agree about Roy. One of the best guitarists and had a phenomenal voice as well. All of the names posted are guitar gods. I'm not a big fan of his music but another incredible guitarist that I didn't see mentioned is John Mayor. He arguably could be listed as one of the elites.
