    Atlas Replacement Relay Harness alternatives?

Does any one know if there are any other options to buying a replacement relay harness for $169 from TH Marine for a Atlas hydraulic jack plate?
    I have a 2012 and need part AHJRELAYKIT-2-DP.
    Has anyone made their own?
Or know where I can buy a cheaper brand new harness?

I made one a couple of years ago for a school project. It’s a fairly simple relay setup. I don’t use it at the moment but I keep it for situations like you are experiencing. Relay numbers are DG85B-8011-76-1012 14VDC 40/60A

I went and looked through some old documents to get which color wire when where.
2 Blue wires went to jack plate.
2 Black wires ran to switch.
2 White and 2 Yellow wires all ran to negative terminal of battery.
2 Red wires ran to positive terminal of battery.

**I highly advise the use of a multi meter to confirm these wiring as a harness you buy may be color coded different. I can provide more pics if needed.

In case you were wondering, we made a completely automated jackplate for a engineering project. Pretty cool to see it actually work.

Check with other jackplate mfrs. i bought a cmc harness one time for their power trim and it was under $50. Any power trim or jackplate harness will work or you can make one with 2 relays and a little electrical knowledge (or google)

So after some research and a great idea from Taj,
Note: The original Atlas relay pack contains 2 - 40amp automotive rated relays. My choice for a cost effective alternative fix .. buy a 12v WINCH fwd/rvs solenoid. COST $20.00USD and is rated for 110amps! I doubt this solenoid will ever fail as it is totally over engineered for this application... but if it does I can replace it 8x before it costs as much as the "proper" alternative. 20190509_133331.jpg 20190510_213520.jpg

My new Hydrodynamics JP came with that same relay. It is one beast of a relay too. Glad to see it is easily attainable. Makes a distinctive snapping sound too when the lever is activated.

I googled a quick schematic. If you wire something like this you can use any automotive relay you want. I made my own harness and keep a couple spare relays in my tool box in case I ever need them.

This is exactly the same as the atlas wiring only the relays are not encased in urethane.

This was going to be my suggestion. I have used them in the past on replacing the relay pack for jackplates. It is called a contactor and available through Amazon. We also carry it instock

John, and idea where to get some protective caps for over the nuts? I hate to have them exposed like that in case of a metal object falling across the posts

get some heat shrink, put over bolts and heat. Not sure where rubber caps that size would be.

What about liquid electrical tape? I use it on my battery terminals to prevent corrosion. Should dry thick enough to prevent accidental short.

I thought of both those. Might try the heat shrink first. Be less gooey if I have to remove

Actually the liquid tape peels right off. No mess no problem.

The height is set by a micro controller that reads from presets, motor water pressure, and boat speed. Water depth was to also be included but that part did not make it through the design process. The black and yellow box you see in the video is a height sensor which reads the current height of the plate.

Actual wiring of a two wire reversible motor such as trims or hydraulic jackplates depends on whether a controller is used or a dual relay set up.
    On a 5 pin relay:
two grounds, a blue or green, a blue/white or green/white, and a red positive.
    On a controller:
    one ground, a blue, a green, a blue/white, a green/white, a red positive.
