    New motor rebuild, start-up

There is probably nothing more satisfying than the moment you start up an engine you have spent weeks, maybe even months building for your ride. Countless hours making sure every technical issue is worked out, tolerances and clearances carefully measured, and each component carefully inspected. Then the day comes that you are ready to lift the engine off the stand and put it in the car. You get a friend to come over to help with the job, and after a couple of hours you cinch down that last bolt, check everything twice, hook up the battery, and hop in to turn the key; your heart skipping a beat or two as you await the beautiful sound of the fresh engine as it comes to life...

I’d be swinging! I’ve rushed too many builds when I was a kid and had that happen once!

Had a friend in high school that spent all winter rebuilding a motor for his car. Finally got it installed and fired it up, and the block was cracked. He never had it checked out before he started the rebuild. To make matters worse, it was a damn Gremlin. He bought a LeCar while he was working on it so he'd have something to drive and to this day, we still call him LeDave.

Gotta say, that's a mean trick to play on a buddy. I'll try and remember to do it!
