Fuel lines and water separator. What should I get?

Has any one redone their fuel lines and added water separator filters. Looking for good quality line that’s not super OEM expensive and suggestions for a good water separator filter kit.

I agree unless you have a Mercury Optimax or ProXS. They already have one under the hood and (according to Mercury) adding a second one can restrict the fuel supply.

I know that is Mercury recommendation to only have one filter but then Yamaha wants both. Funny

The owners manual for my Suzuki 250SS highly recommends an external fuel water separator as well. From looking at the size of the fuel filters on my motor, it explains why they recommend an external fuel filter. Regarding fuel lines, don't get the grey fuel since they only last about 2 or 3 years if you are lucky before they start breaking down.

The Yamaha kit is a good and I got my fuel line at my local boat shop. They will usually have a large spool of it and sell by the foot.

I replaced my line with Trident A1 line , based on people saying it was one of the best.

Thank you kandkustomzhydrographics. I just found this by looking for the fuel line you linked. The fuel line I linked below looks like it is the same color as the line I have now.

I believe that A-1 fuel line is for inside the hull for flammable issues, and the grey B-1 low permeation is from the splash well to the motor.

Thank you greenfshrmn. That information definitely brings the puzzle together together. I may need to order both and use A-1 to the water separator then B-1 to the inside of the motor.

Don't forget to order 3/8" ID fuel line.

As ChampioNman says, I used 3/8 A-1, and then 5/16 for the grey B-1. It's a bit snug, but dipping the end in a cup of hot water for a minute or so allows it to slip right over the fitting at the fuel bulb.

Some guys on the Suzuki engine parts forum are suggesting the RACOR water filter system like one of these.

I still need to order a fuel filter/water separator but need to know what the flow rate needs to be before I can purchase one. Any one have any idea what the fuel flow rate should be for the DT150S BASS?
