Keep Losing my Darn License Plate

Does anyone out there have a better idea for mounting the license plate to my trailer? I am on my 2nd replacement license plate now. Thought about drilling holes into the C Channel frame and mounting the plate right to the trailer instead of those plastic or even metal holders. Any advice or pictures would be very helpful.

I have had mine on my trailer for years and just have it attached with zip ties around the trailer.

Last time I had to replace mine, I mounted it back on with a metal Tag Holder/Frame, stainless bolts, nuts, lock washers and a good dose of Red Loc-Tite on everything with threads. Staying on for now!

I have lost plates with the plastic and metal holders. My permanent solution was to replace the license plate holder with nylon straps secured to the trailer and license plate. This won't rot or break.

Best thing I've found; cut a piece of thin gauge aluminum the same size as license for a backing plate and use an aluminum or SS piano hinge so it will swing and not bend or break when it hits something.

Mine came off back in 2008, found it at the boat ramp the next day after I lost it. It just stays in my back storage compartment. Have never had an issue with it not being on the trailer. I drive all over texas with it off the trailer and never been stopped.

I'm the same way. I lost several over the years and now I keep it in my truck. I might get pulled over this weekend but have never been pulled over yet. I have had several cops and state trooper follow behind me for miles over the years and not one time have I been pulled.

Backing into the lake and pulling out TOO FAST. Just so you know. I'd go to the frame myself but no plates issued for boats up here

Lost a plate also with the plastic bracket. I bought a aluminum trailer plate holder from amazon for around 10.00 and it has held up for the last two years.

The ability to swing freely when entering and exiting the water is the most important factor, however you accomplish it.

A motorcycle tag? I had no idea they would let us use that! That would stay so much better than a full size tag. I use 2 zip ties on each side but I do check them every trip and replace them every few months. I haven’t lost a plate yet, knock on wood, and I hope I never do. Funny the things we worry about just for catching a fish
