I Pilot Heading Sensor Assembly Puck

I just got a new Ulterra with I pilot. I am mounting the Heading Sensor Assembly puck to 12V.
Do I need to put a switch in so the puck will not be drawing power constantly like the older GPS
pucks did...OR can I wire it directly to the battery as per installation manual indicate?
I have a switch and will be on problem installing it.
    Thanks for your help

Be sure to read the direction for the Puck.
I would not mount it near the trolling motor (or at the Bow). Like many others here seem to like to suggest!

Have mine located at bow with no problems but some need a different location depending on the installation and testing for interference.

I tested spot on water with a compass before permanently mounting it. Also, use the latest update allowing it to be used as GPS/Heading source for the FF and that works great.

When on pad, and trolling motor stowed. Is the Map still correct?

I have feeling many with that update are gonna find they have issues on there graph, boat will appear to be going sideways. Results may very obviously depending on distance from magnets in trolling motor.

Well since it doesn't work with the trolling motor stowed, I doubt *anyone* is going to have that problem. ;)

    Read the above again....
You can now integrate the heading sensor with your graph.

That feature only works when the trolling motor is deployed. Also only compatible with I pilot link system

The heading sensor has nothing to do with the on board graphs. The heading sensor is for the troll motor GPS. You can however use the I-pilot Link to integrate the graphs with the troll motor GPS

The newest I pilot link software allows you to connect the Minn kota heading sensor to the helix or Solix when trolling motor is deployed

There has been a bunch of other stuff being thrown around but did you put it on a circuit with a switch so you don't drain your battery? Bob

What kind of bracket did you use? Can you post a photo?

    Thanks
