Physically yes, the MDI transducer has an ONIX/SOLIX plug, but the ONIX does not have Dual Spectrum 2D or MEGA DI.
The ONIX does have Generic High Frequency as a 2D setting----130-250 kHz.

The ONIX has 455 kHz and 800 kHz Imaging same as the SOLIX. The SOLIX has the additional MEGA (1200 kHz) frequency.
The MDI works with the three Imaging frequencies AND HW CHIRP 2D sonar.
You cannot ADD the MEGA frequency to the ONIX with a transducer.

You can DISPLAY MEGA Imaging shared from a first generation SOLIX if the software has not been updated to 3.360 or higher.

The Built-in MEGA DI transducer will provide both MEGA Down Imaging+ and 2D CHIRP Digital Sonar to
select Humminbird models. For complete compatibility, see the chart below.
    PLEASE NOTE: You can only
view MEGA Down Imaging with a MEGA DI or MEGA SI HELIX G2N or G3N Series model and a required adapter, or with any SOLIX Series model. The built-in transducer cannot supply MEGA Down Imaging to Humminbird models that do not already have the capability. If you have a G2/G2N or a G3/G3N HELIX that is not a MEGA SI or MEGA DI model, you will still get 2D CHIRP Digital Sonar from the transducer.
SOLIX G1 and HELIX G2 and G2N units need to be running the latest software update to view sonar from motors with Built-In MEGA Down Imaging. You can get the lastet version of software for your fish finder here. Built-In MEGA DI is not supported by HELIX G1 models or other brands of fish finders.
The Built-In MEGA DI transducer is only available on new models equipped from the factory and cannot be added to an existing trolling motor.
    COMPATIBLE HUMMINBIRD UNITS:
    HUMMINBIRD SOLIXTM SERIES
    Onix is not compatible

I have the MEGA DI transducer for the SOLIX first generation and get HB High CHIRP 2D sonar and 455/800 kHz Down Imaging when I connect it to the ONIX.
Do not know if the MDI transducer has Auto Detect that will do that for you, but if not you can set it yourself manually for the 2D frequency with either that or Generic High Frequency.

The default 2D CHIRP range is 150-220 kHz. The available range is 140-240 kHz.
