I have 2007 175 pro xs, se # 1B516856, had the tuner fall off. Dealer pulled off powerhead, changed tuner, can, and gasket. motor has over 900 hours and now has a loud tapping noise. compression is around 127psi on all cylinders, with no miss at all. tried another lower unit and disconnected the belt and ran the motor for about 5 seconds and the noise was still there. any ideas?
Does the tapping change with rpms? Does it sound like it’s coming from midsection?
I would inspect the compressor for any play or sounds.
