    Merc 150 Pro Max ss?

I recently purchased a boat with a Merc 150 Pro Max ss (serial# OG610057) on it and have some questions.
    1) Where can I find what it is by serial#? (for spare parts etc)
    2) I understand they did not build many of them due to the 225 Pro Max being the most popular. How many built? Why a 150 with a 15" and SportMaster? Fishing? Racing?
    3) Are there any dyno numbers?

Wow, I wonder how many of those were made? The 150 promax motors weren’t much different than a regular 150 aside from the unpainted block, fiber reeds and a raised limiter from what I know. The fact that it’s on a 15” mid is impressive!
1995 Allison XB-2003 225 Super Mag. It's slow and I'm ok with that.

    Thank you gentlemen!

I have now done some research on this engine. I helped finding it via the Allison Owners forum for a Swedish Offshore V-150 racing team (monohulls with maximum 150hp consumer engines). Upon arrival in Sweden the engine was run in a dyno @187hp. They ran it one season and won in superior style and were disqualified at the end of the season as the Swedish Boat Racing Federation classified it as a racing engine.

The engine was sold and rigged on the very boat I have now purchased (20' 550lbs RIB Unlimited rated @115hp built on a Hydrolift T-17 sport boat hull). I ran a Hydrolift T-17 sport boat with a Merc 200xs sm ss for one season and it was a handful. I had that setup for one season before buying an Allison SS-2000 - the best boat I have ever driven (had it for 8 years).

    My Hydrolift T-17.

Back to the RIB story - when they rigged and tested the RIB boat with this engine they had a very bad propride and the boat went up for sale that very same evening. Now I will try to set it up...

Further research has it that Mercury introduced the alien cowling for 1998 and that the decals on my engine is for 1998 and 1999. I have a very early 1998 as the serial# starts at 0G610050 and my engine has 0G610057.
