    oxidation on jack plate

How do I get this off and not ruin the paint all around it. I use a product called the Works on my prop and tried a spot on the jack plate. Works good everywhere except the waterline and above on the jack plate. Most of this oxidation has developed from storing the boat in a slot for 3 or 4 days on trips.. Seems to get worse when boat sets in my storage garage too. Boat has only been used 3 or 4 times in 2 years. Help!!
