Can't see laydowns/structure etc with new 360. Help please....

I recently installed my new 360 Imaging on my Ultrex TM. It's running on my Helix 12 screen. I've watched some videos from Doug Vahrenburg and Brandon Palaniuk going over how they like their settings for max viewing. I've tried different sensitivities and contrasts and I'm not picking up much discernible structure, when I know the structure is there. I can go by laydowns that I can see through the clear water, and they never show up on my 360 view.

Here's 2 pics of the laydown and my screen. I have the color palette on #4 and the sensitivity was 13 and contrast was 15. The laydown was about 10-15' from the boat, at about the 2 o'clock position. I've played around with these and not getting much better results. I tried the blue palette #1, and the default #2 (seems too hot/blown out) and haven't had any better views. Just looking for some help here.

Are you using either Fine/Fast or Slow as the rotation speed?

Also a laydown that size (individual limb diameters) if not recorded with SI, won't be recorded with 360 either.

It was either fine/fast or the default setting...can't remember.

Wayne, what are your sens/contrast/speed settings on your screen captures?

I don't pay attention to any setting numbers, I go by how the image looks.
I adjust the Sensitivity so the background is dark enough to show fish returns.
I do not adjust the Contrast=default.
When I am stationary, I use Slow, and when moving a little, use Fine/Fast.

Yeah it seems like my sensitivity has been up too high as I can't differentiate fish or smaller items (stumps, rocks etc). Bigger things I can see but not smaller ones. I'll just keep adjusting it down little by little til I can see smaller things.

    Thanks for the help

You are also trying to image something close to the bank. In my experience with the 360 piles that size are tough to see when the return is also bouncing off the bank.

I think your image looks normal for your conditions. It says you are 1.8ft deep and on the bank. It’s going to be hard to make out objects clearly like this. Notice how Wayne is 5ft deep in his screen shots. Experiment in alittle deeper water and see how it looks. If you can find some offshore rock in about 10ft that will be a great place to start.

Ok. Yeah I wasn't sure how much the depth and narrowness of the channels were affecting my returns. A lot of the back channels in my lake are real shallow (less than 5' deep and narrow). Next time out I'll play around with it on the main lake where it's 8-11' deep and much much bigger/wider. I did notice in playing with my settings (sensitivity and contrast) I found a spot on the main lake where I was seeing the exact same structure on the side imaging and the 360. I forgot what those settings were, and then started going down the shallow channels and never got the same results (of course changing the sens/contr the whole time too).

    Thanks for the tips.

Looks like you may have some scattered weeds in there also .... they could be somewhat blocking the sonar

Yeah the weeds are really heavy down the channels.
