OK got my ortho bands to use for guide replacement so how in the heck can I spread them enough to get over tip top and forward guides to get to repair guide area? Them puppies are small!!!

    Thanks,

    Bill

I would think that you put them on the blank first... But I have never built a rod.

You can't use Ortho bands for repairs. I use various sizes of surgical tubing sliced into bands. I spread them with needle nose pliers to get them over any guides I need.

The bands are only good when building a rod from scratch.

I bought fuel line tubing at a hobby shop and cut a small piece off. Then a cut a rubber band in half. Slide the two end of the rubber band through the fuel line and snug in up to hold the guide in place
