Mounting bluewater deck lighting under the gunnel ?

I have a Lowe Stinger I’m lookin to add some deck lighting to. Not looking for anything real flashy just something useful.
The Stinger has a recess under the gunnel that would totally hide the light strips. They would be shining straight down , and would be about 2” above the carpet on the deck.

Do you think this would be a good mounting location ?

That is how I did it on my Crestliner vt17. It works great because it does not shine directly out onto the deck. Lind of an indirect light. I also added a dimmer switch to adjust brightness.

I'm getting ready to do the same thing for my dad on his Bass Tracker. I think that would be the best place to mount it to have usable light and not blind you.
