Boat Buddy Trailer Latch not tripping on while loading boat.

Just put it on late last year on my 18.5' Ranger bass boat. It latched by itself the 1st time and hasn't since. I installed the extended bow eye and adjusted it so it was long enough to fasten the winch strap hasp and was wondering if I need to make it even longer. The cushion part isn't too tight as I can move it by hand with a little effort. I've tried having the trailer backed in deeper and shallower and it doesn't seem to matter. The 3 positions on the boat buddy all seem functional too. Any thoughts? Thanks, Scott

I believe the Boat Buddy that I've had required and extended bow eye also. If you can test it ok when the boat is off the trailer, then this may be your problem.
