I just found a helix 10 gen2 on side of road. It has busted screen and plastic housing busted. Is it worth sending off to fix of I can’t find owner

"worth it" will depends on how bad you want it. Call hb & ask how much to repair it, and go from there. If you don't want to get it fixed, pm me.
LOL...somebody must have been really disappointed. That's why I never trailer with units on the boat.

Never assume there's a tomorrow
Sounds like somebody finally had it with the updates.
That's the reason I always put them in the truck before I leave home and the lake.
Send it hopefully HB can get it back to rightful owner
Sounds like it is totaled to me. You could call and describe it's condition but doubt it would be repaired. Bob
If it's registered, HB will be able to pull the serial and match it up with its owner (hopefully? After the web-switch last year, I have doubts about their data/web/logistics abilities). Whether you believe in Karma or not, that might be something to consider.
If you had lost it wouldn’t you want someone to return it?

Gee Honey, my sonar fell off the boat on my home, too bad now I have to get a new one
(I sure hope someone doesn't find it and feel obligated to track down the owner)

Hopefully the owner has it registered and Humminbird can contact them.
If it is under warranty they will figure out owner under warranty does not match person requiring repair.
As mentioned Karma comes back..
threw mine over board in the boat and the stupid thing floated, next time I will have to throw it out the car window to finish it of................
They 100% float or Atleast suspend just below the surface. My friend found a helix 12 on the beach acouple years ago. We powered it up and it was fine. The unit belonged to someone in the Midwest guessing by the waypoint clusters out in that area of the world. He was probably here for a costa that had taken place about a week or 2 prior. Maybe he’s on this board and will read this. You could see where the trail ended when it snapped off his deck. It was about 3-4 miles off shore and the trail stopped. A south wind blew it to the bank and it washed up on a public beach. The only damage was where the connector harness attaches. The plastic pieces that the connector locks into had been sheared out of the unit. Another friend 3D printed the piece to make it work and epoxied it in the spot and it worked for keeping the cable connector attached. Unfortunately if the guy is on this board the unit is long gone. If it was me I probably would have tried to get it back to him but it wasn’t me.
