Have any of you experienced problems with this motor? 2 co workers have had lifter collapse on their trucks in the last 2 weeks. I own a 2014 Silverado and am concerned to the point of looking to trade it.

My boss uses the AFM disabler. He has always monitored his mpg closely. Since running all 8 cylinders all the time his mpg have actually improved...no BS he tracked it to the t.
Halfway through replacing them myself in my 2010 right now. Its a more common issue than GM wants to acknowledge, Google it if you want to see. Mine did make it to 165,000 miles, but probably would not have failed at all if they were non-AFM.
I used range deactivator since my 6.2 was new. Little/no mpg change
I simply think AFM is a govt appeasement deal and a bad idea for engines

I had a 2007 Envoy Denali with the 5.3 and I was adding about a quart every 2k miles. I traded it in 2017 with 60k miles before any issues showed up. Most people that have a 5.3 oil burner never check the oil level they just get the oil changed when it tells them to. My Dad is a wholesale car dealer and bought an immaculate Envoy from a an older lady who did just that, her engine was replaced at 120k and she sold it. Needless to say he got a steal on it. He wont touch a pre 2012 5.3 (unless the price is right and lifters aren't noticably knocking) even though he's just a wholesaler.
I have a 14 silverado. Only 22k miles. HATE how this runs with this BS technology they do anymore. I’m about 2 mins away from ordering the disabler.....actually hmm.
Yup go get a tundra .... Wrote one a bill for 2300 this week and another for 1490... it’s like Toyota owners expect the bill to be huge when they come pick up thier truck ... they cry a little but sure seem proud writing those big repair bill checks !!! Makes my job so much easier
Have one getting a rebuilt Transmission next week .. hoping to break my all time repair bill total record !!
So some company found out how to disable the AFM. Must not be something to difficult to figure out. Why can’t dealers do it for us?
The new 5.3 motors are still burning oil as well. Get the Range AFM delete.
Traded my 2014 GMC for a Tundra.

1... AFM and a lot of the crap strapped to all makes of motors are to meet emmisions standards that don’t actually help anything
And that’s not really how manufacturers work .. go pick any brand and go drive by the service bays .. let me know when you drive by one with empty bays .. every dealer out there makes the money in the bays these days
AFM disabler ordered
Black Bear performance. Get that thing tuned and delete the AFM. It’s not if, it’s when with those things.
