Here is an old Army guy thanking you for your service. My next door neighbor is a cop and I told him he is the real hero because I always knew what I was about to get in to, but his every event is a potential ambush.
Congrats. I will have 15 years with NYSDOCS in August. Our department has gone through so much change in the time I have. And even with only 15 years I am in the top 180 at my facility. Last week I marked my 25th year of service to the folks of NYS.
Hard to believe. It's funny that I am "the senior trooper" for my zone which covers 3 counties. I looked in the mirror and realized "I am the old man now".
Another fact that amazes me is how few of us there are left that responded to NYC on 9/11. Most of the people I work with now were not even on the job that day. Hell, a few now weren't even born.
Have seen untold numbers of changes through this period. The most important to me though is that my wife and two children. Karen has been here for the whole ride. Not sure how many more I have left in me but I'm still going today.
To everyone that serves in one capacity or another to the public, have a blessed day.
