    1996 PROCRAFT 185 PRO SETUP

I have a 23 pitch Lazer II runs 52 @ 5600 RPM with 150XR6 Mercury. I think this boat is capable of running fast. Any suggestion on setup jackplate? Prop? or is timing or something off?

my buddy has an astro 1800 which should be almost identical to your hull if im not mistaken... he has a 6 inch jackplate and a 24 pitch trophy 4 blade and he is seeing low to mid 60's. I have an astro 1850 scx which is 18'11" with a 175 efi and that same prop runs so much better than my laser 25 p. i an get 62 mph and 5650 rpms from what I have been told, these boats need more lift becausethey are heavy and the 4blade does that

I've got a 1996 Dual Pro with a Merc 175EFI. Currently running it with a 24P Tempest with medium hole PVS plus. Absolute max I can hit is 5,300RPM I can hit so may drop to a 23P. Have hit 65mph with that setup but 63 is more typical. I ran 25P Tempest with fully closed plugs but the motor sounded strained getting on plane; max 5,100, maybe 5,200rpm and 63mph with it but 60 was more typical.

Those numbers are full tournament load and probably 25 gallons of fuel.

I was advised to only run a jackplate if I don't run rough water due to the wood core transom. No jackplate for me.
