    Jig tying vise

Looking for recommendations for a vise. I'd like to be able to tie feathered trebles as small as #6 and jig skirts up to a heavy wire #4/0 or 5/0 securely. Is there such an animal out there? Would like to keep it under $50 if possible as I'm just want to get into tying up stuff for personal use.

I got into this last year, and I would suggest don't do it!! You will end up with more skirt material, rubber and silicone and hair, and wire and thread and then start making your own jigheads too. I've probably got 3 grand in stuff to make my own lures! It really is fun but there are so many different colors and such, you'll wind up spending a fortune. I luckily have been able to sell some to help pay for my hobby. et ready for late nights in the garage, its addicting!

I have been using a suckshon cup vice from Harbor Freight that is like $15. I can use it at the kitchen counter and not leave any marks.

Thanks Allen. I'll check it out. I have a Harbor Freight near me and have never been there.

The vises that have been suggested will work great except for feathered trebles ,,, you really need a rotating vise for this ,, you can do it with out one,,no doubt but it sure makes it easier if you can rotate it

I have a Rensetti Traveler that I bought 25 years ago. I use it mostly to tie flies. It's a great vice, but a lot more than $15.

After listening to all the advise I wound up getting a small bench vise for the jig hooks and a rotary fly tying vise for the trebles. Thanks for all the input.

I'm late to the party, but that rotary will be a useful tool. I have a Griffin Odyssey Spider, my son has a Renzetti Traveler. He ties the small crap down into the 20's. I do manly stuff for bigger fish. Both vises work well. Crappie jigs, hair jigs, striper stuff are all easier on a rotary. These are a few of the bunch I tied up for his striper trips. 6/0 and 7/0 I think. The flies are mine on 1/0 and 2/0.
