In the motor has a relay card and a module inside the motor housing. It could be either. If you have never disassembled one It is advisable to bring it to a shop for repair. Relay card is around $90.00, the module is about $180.00.
Reason I said it could be either is I had a couple in the shop that did the same. One I replaced the relay card and fixed the problem. The other I replaced the relay card and it still had no reverse. I put the old replay card back and replaced the Module and it worked correctly. The module part I am not sure why it did that.
Is it ok to run without fixing it ?

Like completely fail. Motor will not run when module goes out.
That is not good news will have to bring it in before that happens
