    1995 Ranger 491VS Trailer Question

Can anyone tell me if the front roller guides are a "must have" on this trailer? Was thinking about removing them, but am hesitant as I wasn't sure if they actually served the purpose of supporting the boat on the trailer or were only for guide purposes. The hull does not rest on the rollers when sitting on the trailer....thanks for any insight you guys can provide!!

I would guess that someone had it for guiding the boat on steep ramps to keep the bow from hitting the front post.

I think they are mandatory for my boat. The reason is because the boat is so long that once the boat gets onto the trailer, the bunks aren't long enough to guide the bow straight to the bow roller. These guides keep you centered up to the roller, especially in the wind. I can't imagine loading my boat in high winds without those guides....

Also, they are only roller guides. They don't support any weight at all. There should be space between the hull and the roller guides once the boat is on the bow roller.

They're simply used to help center the front of the boat into the bow roller. Some boats are easier to guide on than others. You can remove them if your boat loads easily. If you remove them and don't want them, I would be interested it buying them if the price was right.
