    Switching to Scorpion

Hey guys, need advice on prop selection. Currently I have a yamaha v-max with a 25 T1 and need more prop. Boat runs wot 68 @ 5750 RPM and need to come down to 5500 (max spec. RPM) or less. I'm not sure if its hitting rev limit or not. I've herd Scorpion props don't match the average pitch for most props. Any advice on what I need before I purchase a new prop?

Do not reduce rpms... Your motor has a 6150 rev limiter. 5700-5900 is a good place to be. I have heard that the Scorpion runs stiff. So you might want a 23-24P

I would be interested in the T1 if you want to sell it.

Mine is a 2002 model though. I was told it was 5500. Is that not correct?

The manual says 5500 rpm’s max. But they changed the manual, not the engine. It’s better to run that motor up towards 6000 RPMs. If Yamaha did not want that motor to rev that high, the rev limiter would be 5600 rpm’s :-)

Well ok... Well with current set-up, has mind blowing whole-shot, and tops at 5750 going 68, which is why I thought I needed bigger prop. So I need less pitch then, to get another 250 Rpm's? One prop size?

It depends on the prop... Some run stiffer than others, Even in the same pitch.

You have a good prop. Send it to Mark and let him work it. Scorpions are extremely stiff props. I could barely turn a 24 Pitch to 6000 with my 250 SHO.
