I've not completely wrecked at high speed before but I have lost bite and have done a lot of water throwing and sticker washing. Once I took a crazy ride that I was sure I was getting wet over but somehow I stayed dry. I say this to say that seat time started to pay dividends after a while. There is a certain feel and sound you learn that "can" tell you when you are on the ragged edge and better back off. Water pressure and motor height are big deals guys. The problem I see with some less experienced drivers is they sometimes have a habit of running a few miles or hours and "think" they know their boat really well. Conditions change, loads change, and reaction times change based on freshness of the mind. I usually trust WP and sound first, and never discount any other factors that are screaming slow down in my mind.

Johnny Maxwell, and never ignore the seat of your pants. If it doesn’t feel just right don’t push it.

Gotcha; I took your post as he lost it 20 times.
I figure a lot of us have had multiple O-SHIT saves.

I blew my prop out once and I quickly learned not to do that again, I guess some people’s learning curve is different lol.
