Make sure you check the CONNECTOR for that #3 coil you said was "hot". Make sure it is not melted or damaged.
Verify throttle and shift adjustment per the Engine Service Manual. VERY critical.
DON'T attempt to shift unless engine is RUNNING, or prop is SPINNING.
