    Lowrance 1240a transducer location

I have a 1997 186 elite & my 1240a flasher is shot. Where would the through hull transducer for this be located& how hard is it to get to.

By the drain plug, inside the bilge. Prob won’t be the most enjoyable experience getting to it.

There is a definite possibility that there could be two transducers in the bilge if you have a second sounder at the console.

Thank you. My plans are to replace this with a Vexilar F-10 unit that would fit where the Lowrance is in dash.
I would assume I’d have to swap out the transducer with this new unit. Thier options are either the
12 degree HD or the 12 degree puck. Not to sure what direction I’ll go with that until I do more research.

I'd be interested in the 1240a head unit if it's shot. The black bezel that holds mine in the dash broke. The transducer for mine is in the bilge and the temp sensor wire runs down over the back of the boat inside the jackplate.

I've always wanted to replace mine with a vex too. Maybe this year I'll get er done. I use a vex for ice fishing and it's awesome.

Tx Champ .........there is 2 transducers in the bilge are.....had to pull charger & batteries to get in there, NOT FUN. The joys of new boat ownership. Now to figure out which one went to the 1240A Lowrance & replace with the Vexilar transducer that I just got.

Before you completely rip them out, use the old cable to route/pull the new cable. (Like a fish tape)

grout-scout.......thank you very much I took your advice. The bilge area was slimy as all hell so I had to clean it up & cleaned checked all the pumps & hoses / clamps while I was in there. Once I got the old Puc up and sanded old epoxy away the new one went in rather quickly. That was my first excursion down in that area in the boat & I hope I don't have to do it again for awhile.......what a job.
