    Need help guys -boater stranded

Sons on the river. Motor hit something underwater running about 20 mph. No obvious damage, but motor shut down and now will not start. Turns over fine, but will not start. Mercury 225 pro xs, maybe 2012 model. Any ideas what to check? Need to get them off the water.

Tried disconnecting the positive lead to battery, in hopes it would "reset". Still no good.

Will keep you posted guys. Work keeps getting in the way of important stuff, like fixing boat motors. We will be testing tonight - spark, timing, compression, looking blown fuses, connections, and anything else.

Found it! Blown fuse. Keeping it from firing. I'll have to look at schematic tomorrow to let you know exactly which one it was. 20 amp, under a cover with four 20 amp mini fuses.
    Replaced fuse, fired right up.

I bet they didn't hit anything, but it felt like it when the motor suddenly cut off.

Definitely hit something, motor cut off 5-10 seconds later. Now blowing fuses about 5 seconds into idle after cranking.
