    05 225 issue

I think I have a bad coil in my 05 225 Opti. Motor runs as smooth as ever, hole shot is perfect, and it starts up right away. Only issue is I can't get over 5000 rpms. Motor used to run at 5700 and my battery is probably getting a little old. Prop is a 25 p tempest.

    Any other ideas?

Pull the plugs and read them.

I think I'll take it to the shop to have them replaced. Im also going to swap the prop. Could I do any harm running on a bad plug or coil?

Never a good idea to run a motor with a Known issue that hasn't been diagnosed yet.

Ok I'm going to take it to the shop. I'll see if they can just do plugs and filter first?

I would diagnose what's wrong instead of throwing parts at it.

Ok so I took it in and mechanic did a drop down test. He says the test was great.

Mechanic said the compressor was wobbling some but that belt and bearing was good.

Said TPS was at 93.7 and high speed fuel filter (or maybe pump) was from 03 and needed to be replaced. He's putting the throttle closer to 100%, and greasing it etc. He's also replacing the old filter or pump.

Issue was the prop. New prop same design pitch etc and runs perfect.
