Question Ill effects with keel guard ?

Have been looking at getting a BasSport and noticed that Darris offers a keel guard.
Seem to recal someone had issues at speed with one. Did I just dream that ??

I have driven several with them. No issues that I could see. I do recall someone saying something about them, but I feel like the issue I remember was trailer related.

I just got back from a store looking at them. I plan to put one on my boat when it is back in the garage.

    Powell will probably know more.

I would opt for the factory installed one. Mine was factory installed. No sign of peeling. Will not affect handling either

Mine was factory installed on my Allison. It caused the depth finder to not read depths at speed. It came off in some really rough water on Pickwick. After that it would read depth up in the 70’s. I had a Hamby’s installed after that. Read depths pretty well after that also.
I think the Hamby’s only comes in black though.

    Thanks .. Now I remember.
THATS what I had read and the reason I did not put one on my current Allison.. I spent a lot of time getting my SI transducer set up to read bottom on 2D at speed. I can normally keep bottom to about 70.

Yeah now I remember this as well. SP was that reading a glued in ducer in the tray under the bucket or was the loss of depth reading an outside ducer?

There was a post on here where a lot of people with keel guards lost bottom readings at around 45mph where people without keel guards could keep bottom into the 60’s.
