Question Bluetooth / Ultrex GPS heading - anyone get this to work?

    I think I’m missing something

I did the 3.360 and the latest 3.400 update on the 2 solix units and the I-Pilot link 1.260 update

All went well except I can’t seem to get the solix to connect to the Ultrex GPS or heading sensor

It sees the “remote I pilot BT” but says External GPS/Heading BT (LOST) under connection

Now I thought it might be because the Ultrex wasn’t deployed but even once I deployed the Ultrex it still doesn’t connect to the Ultrex GPS and continues to say “LOST”

This is on 2 Solix units networked to the Ultrex

    Am I missing something?

Its clear the Ultrex GPS and heading sensor work because spotlock and jog work just fine

Has that ever worked for you? My understanding was that the Bluetooth Puck from the ultrex/ulterra/terrova couldn't be shared with the graphs. I see it listed under network sources on my helix units as well, but never tries to select it since I have external heading sensors.

The Minnkota heading sensor is shared along with the iPilot GPS to a display in place of the AS GPS HS antenna.

Mine works and shows up as a source for GPS on both of my Helix 10’s.

    Pafoster,

    Are you running a Solix?

    Other than the updates

Is there a step need to see them in the network data source without the (LOST) connection?

I couldn’t get mine to work either. When it’s connected to the heading sensor it points in the correct direction. When I change it to BT, it points in the wrong direction.

When you use the Jog feature, does the motor move in the direction you choose?

(a polite way of asking if the Puck is installed backwards)..

Just inquiring if magnetic interference was avoided during the install and if calibration was done.

Still looking for answers to my issue

Has anyone with a Solix gotten the Ultrex GPS to work with the Solix?

Other than the latest updates is there another step beside selecting the “Remote I-Pilot GPS BT” needed?

Does the Ultrex need to be deployed for the GPS to work?

Nothing on the motor works when it is stowed.

    I was afraid of that

Most of my testing has been in the driveway

Only been out once and didn’t get it to work but had other issues that kept me from really focusing on this

Need some good weather so I can get out - I'm sick of 40's and rain!

How long does it take to re-acquire that source once the motor is deployed (assuming the same about not working applies to an ulterra)?

Have not noticed any lag time, really have not paid any attention to that. The last time I was on the water, I had two units at the bow, one had the AS GPS HS connected to it and subscribed, the other was getting GPS/Heading from the iPilot.
I will in a couple of days though.

I didn’t try it on the water yet. It shouldn’t be an interference issue. The HS works good for the Ultrex. I’ll try fooling with it on the water.

I think I’m late to the game. I can link my Helix 10 to my Ultrex heading sensor via bluetooth to use with my Helix? My Ultrex is not a link model.

With Helix units, I'm pretty sure the unit has to be link in order for this to work since the data is shared via the network, not via BT. I'm sure Wayne will have a definitive answer.

It is LINK based, not Bluetooth based.

BTW, Anyone that is still using old units like me, this feature doesn't work with the xx8/xxx8 series. That is because only the xx9/xxx9 and later series received the update for Bluetooth TM compatibility.
