Gap between prop and lower unit

What should the gap be between the lower unit and the prop? I was having problems getting on plain so I switched my prop from a 4 blade shooter 25p to a Raker 24p and noticed the gap between the lower unit was different. What should the fit between the unit and prop be??

Many 4 blades have a small barrel 4 1/4 inch.... Compared to the 3 blades having a large barrel 4 3/4 in. This gap is normal between the two.

Those two different props use different thrust washers...
