Which Stradic to pair with a ALX Ikos Soul?

    Hey guys,

i just picked up 3 ALX rods...Promise 7, Hustler and Soul. I wanted to pair up the Soul with a Stradic but can’t decide between 2500 in the Stradic FK or the Stradic Ci4+? Not sure if the Ci4+ will be too light making it tip heavy for the Soul? Which route should I go? Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    IMHO 3000 Ci4. The 3000 is the same reel as a 2500
with a slightly different (size) spool which allows reel to stack the line much better (less twist). Dan

You should have no issue with either being reel being too light.

    I gotta disagree with this.

The only difference between the 3000 and the 2500 is that the 3000 has a deeper spool and a different handle knob.
They both lay line exactly the same.

3000 has a "longer" spool. Which is what reelex is referring to.

    Longer?

Both shimano spools are identical between the 2500 and 3000 except the 3000 is deeper (holds more line) meaning the inside of the spool is deeper to hold more.
You can swap spools between a shimano 2500 and 3000, both lay line identical also.

Please explain then how a 3000 lays line better then a 2500.

And just because it's a 3000 dosen't mean it holds more line. My JDM Vanquish is a 3000M for medium spool, holds about the same or less than a US 2500 there are also S models that barely hold enough line to make a full cast even in the 3000 size

Yes you are correct, but we are talking about the same reel between CI4+ 2500 and CI4+ 3000, just like the Vanquish, the Vanquish spools of the 2500 and 3000 can be swapped.

My Stella has a taller spool and my Vanquish also has a taller spool vs my CI4+, and yes JDM models do have Shallow models.

The quote below is what I'm referring to.

I knew that a 3000 has a deeper spool than a 2500 but I also presumed the spool was longer. My pictures above show that my 3000 Vanquish has a longer spool than 3 other 2500 models.

Gentlemen, the Ci4 3000 spool is not deeper than the 2500. The entire spool has a slightly taller footprint This what allows for improved casting and stacking of line with reduced line twist, 3000 over 2500.

The Sustain 3000 2500 differ as well as the 3000 spool is wider all together. Dan

I'm off of work until Friday, when I go in I will check and get picks of both the 2500 and 3000 CI4+ display models.
