update RT 178,188 Solix 12 console mount

I got the Solix 12 mounted and made the bracket out of 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 1/4 aluminum angle. It got the solix closer to the dash than the deck-it mount or the precision sonar mount would. Wayne gave me the idea and a 15.00 piece of angle, a drill and jigsaw with a metal blade was about what it took. It did take a few hours and for the first try it seems solid, I have not water tested it yet but I also have 3/16 thick aluminum bar behind the dash for entra support.

Looks good, I find it fascinating that guys spend so much on mounts and Ive always made my own. Even though Im a machinist and have the tools and metal readily available, its not that much to it!!!

I design and mock mine up with tin flashing and then have a local machine shop make them. They usually can just use scrap pieces of aluminum laying around

I bought a similar sized aluminum angle a while back to mount a Garmin unit. Then recently bought a dek-it mount instead, lol.

I really liked the dek-it mount and wanted it to work. The main problem was where the gimbal mounting holes are located on the solix 12 g2 so it made the unit stick out farther.
