My 2019 Tracker 195 TE review

My review on my new 2019 Tracker 195 TE.
I love everything about the boat and am really happy with it.
By selling my other boat, I was able to upgrade some really nice things on the boat which for me made it a really great boat.
I did have a couple of issues with it. The first was pretty easy to fix and rather than taking it back I fixed it myself. The rubber seals they put on the rim of the front deck storage compartments are a good idea but they have a flaw. They leak due to water getting under them and leaking into the compartment.
I removed the seal and ran a bead of a good silicone right on the top edge of the hole, then replaced the rubber seal. This seems to work very well.
The other problem I had was more complex and had to involve the dealer.
I got the Pro XS 150 four stroke for my boat. Great motor! But I was having problems with the Tempest Pus 24p prop catching air.
Tuck the motor all the way in and it would not get much air. Trim even a small amount and try to make any kind of turn at say 35 MPH and the prop would blow out. At wide open I would notice RPM jumps up and down which can only mean excessive prop slip. Top in speed with full gear no water and full gas one person, 55mph. Duel console boat also.
Took to the dealer. Long story short, they said they could not replicate the problem.
Either they lied, or their “Master Technician” didn’t know what he was doing.
I think I could have fixed it with a 5” jack plate and drop it a half inch or so but then you get into the warranty thing. Going down a hole on the motor is out, not enough room. So what I did was talk the service manager into letting me try a different prop. He agreed and ordered me a Trophy Plus 4 blade 24p.
Problem solved. My WOT even went up just over 1 MPH. Same 6000 RPM as 3 blade.
Top speed now is 56.4 GPS and I’m ok with that. Most times I don’t run over 45 or 50 anyway. Not in that big of hurry. Handling is way better, hole shot quicker. I’m happy with it.
If you’re interested in the upgrades I did, check my post “All done”. The details are there.
Very happy with my boat. It is my retirement boat. (Retirement in 2.5 years.)
If anyone is considering buying a 195 and you have some questions feel free to ask. It helped me.

I have the 195 and mine also trys to cavitate very easily and catch air unless trimmed all the way down which then causes it to plow. We also took to the shop but they were unable to duplicate for some reason...so they said. I even posted a thread on here years ago asking if anybody else had that issue but did not get any responses. Basically same story as you, we have just learned to deal with it. I guess if the prop change fixed it for you then we will definitely be trying that route. Thanks for the info.

With a high five prop I experience blowout sometimes as it is smaller diameter and the the stern rides higher with that prop. The tempest that came with it stays hooked up all the time unless I am trimmed all the way up to the limit then it might slip in a turn a little bit.

I’ve only got the first hour of engine break in done, but I foresee a prop change in my future, or at least changing vent size in the prop. Don’t think I’m getting any cavitation, but did notice some slipping a few time. 150 XS Opti with Tempest 24P. Other than that potential future troubleshooting, I don’t have any other complaints with the short amount of time I’ve spent on the water with it.

Do you have the regular 150 or the Pro XS 4 stroke?

It is not a PXS and my boat is three years old but I am pretty sure the hull is the same. I am not sure if blowout is the right word either but I get excess slip sometimes with that prop.

Trophy works great on these boats. If you add a jack plate and get that prop up high, you will really see what it can do.

My pt190 is rated for a 135. Exact same motor as the 150. All they did was take power out of the tune.

The only way I would go back to a three blade is to have a jack plate so I could tune it out. I'm happy with the Trophy Plus 4 blade.

The trophy is a great prop. You would really see the benefits of it with a jack plate.

A 24 pitch is awful tall for a 150 fourstroke ain’t it think I’d try a 23 tempest and solid PCs plugs.
Just seems a bit over proped to me.

The 195 comes with a Tempest 24P three blade. It turns the motors max RPM. The Trophy Plus 4 blade 24p also turns max RPM's.
If the prop was to high of pitch max RPM could not be reached.
The plugs are strictly for hole shot and have no effect on WOT.
These are things I had to research in all this learning event.

    Hey there
Getting my 195 TWX in 2 weeks. Ordered 2nd console. Did you install it or did you have the dealer install it for you?

Seems like it would be easy to install?
    Thanks
