    Question on Tr186 live wells

I just bought my first Triton last week. Tr186 with a mercury XR6 and I took it out the other day and the live well must operate different than the nitros i ve has in the past. Usually there was a lever that had a valve to hold water in the live well or when you weren’t using it, hold water out. This Triton doesn’t seem to have that? When I put the boat in the water the well fills about 1/3 of the way with water and when i drive around on plane for a while, the water drains out? The switches on the dash have a pump out, recirculate, auto/manual aerator. What am I missing??
    Thanks!!

Sounds like you’re missing the plug. Do you have a plug for it?

I found a small black plug laying in the bottom of the well, but I’m not sure where it goes? There are screen guards over the piping on all the fittings in the well that I am seeing. Maybe the previous guy changed one? I have no idea. Lol

Is there a little sump area at the bottom rear of the live well near the screened fitting? If so there is a hole down in there. Stick the plug in it.

And the hole is on a horizontal section of the sump, not a vertical one.

My TR 186 does the same thing. I guess I never really thought much about it, does anybody know what size diameter the Plug is? I apparently don’t have one at all.

My love well has two screens caps in it. I wonder if the last guy screened the fitting that the plug went into???
Thank you for the responses by the way.

I'm 99% sure this is the right one https://www.amazon.com/T-H-Marine-Su...99498324&psc=1. I know this is exactly what they look like I've just never measured one so I can't be 100% sure the 1 1/8" is correct but that seems about right to me based upon handling it.

I think 1-1/8in is too big. I bought one that was 1in. for my 2000 TR186 and it was too big.

The bottom plug on mine is tapered from 5/8”- 3/4”. I’m pretty sure they are original.

    5/8 is the right size.

If you need additional plugs you can get them at Lowes in their speciality hardware dept. I normally buy several.

Just bought a 186 in March and same thing for me. Found the plug and it's a tight fit, but popped it in and problem solved.
