    X19 w/Suzuki 140 Setup?

Test drove an X19 with a Suzuki 140 4-stroke today. The boat did not perform well at all. 44 MPH max gps and had very little hull lift. Prop was a 25P Trophy Plus. What kind of speed could this boat realistically see with the Suzuki? I am certain it needs a different prop and a jack plate adjustment.

I have a 2006 X19 with a Merc 135 optimax with a 25p Trophy prop. I run an honest 50 mph gps with the boat loaded. Has great lift and a quick hole shot. I could probably squeak a few more mph out of it but most the time I fish smaller lakes and it pulls a tube good.

Do you have a jackplate? If so, what size? I believe this boat has a 6 inch plate. I am thinking it should be seeing at least 50 hopefully a little more.

You gotta think- a suzuki isnt a speed demon and youre 60hp short of max. Its not going to perform as expected without maybe a few jackplate tries and a bunch of prop tries. Even then you wont get the best of both worlds

My thoughts exactly. Was hoping to find someone with the same setup so I wouldn't have to play the setup game. I like the boat, and the price is good. Motors can be swapped out, but I may have to pass.

Its way easier to get the motor you want to start with than to swap later. Good luck with your decision!

I have a 6” jp. Motors are easy to swap out. If you get the rig cheap enough.

You need a large diameter 3 blade to get speed on that combo...

Thanks for the input guys. I decided I could not pass up the rig for the price. It came with a Trophy 25P and a Trophy 26P. I may add a 3 blade to the mix. Previous owner had the motor bottomed out on the jackplate. Already performing better just by raising the motor a couple inches. Long term goal is to repower with a 200.

    Your 4cyl 140hp
    motor
has a 2.59:1 gear ratio and 6200 rpm range. You will need a 26P at 6200 rpms to see 55 mph.

I would try and find a PowerTech VMX 25-26P...With a square bore hub to test...

Make sure the throttle linkage is opening getting "Full Pull" at the motor.

So what year is the rig and post up a pic ? Lol.. When I put together my 2006 X19 a Suzi 140 was on the top of my list but couldn't find a used one with less than 10,000 hours on it and they were all in Florida off of salt water rigs. My Xpress dealer sells Suzi's but they seem to be life time purchases around here, they last that long. Keep us up to date on the performance.
