    Chester County Bass Masters April 6th Upper Bay Open #1 Reults

    Chester County Bass Masters held their 1st of five opens for the 2019 season on April 6th out of Anchor Marine in Northeast Maryland.

    62 Teams showed up on a cold, wet, early spring Saturday in search of a 5 fish limit of Upper Bay black bass. The largemouth were transitioning from their cold weather hangouts to some of the pre spawn areas the week leading up to the tournament with reports of some big fish being caught.

    A cold rain front moved thru the area Friday, muddying up the water a little. Some light rain started around 3:30 am and continued off and on until launch.
    Air temps at launch were around 41 with very little breeze. The tournament launched at 6:30 under cloudy skies with a forecast high of 65. Winds picked up mid morning to the normal 10.

    Water temps were in the 50 - 54 degree range depending on where you fished. Water color was a little muddy in some areas, with normal water farther south.
    Launch was on low tide with high around Noon.

    Two flights went out with the first flight due back at 2:30 and second flight at 2:45.

    18 five fish limits were brought in with 2 other teams having 4 fish.
    20 double digit weights were brought to the scales.
    13 bass over 4 pounds were weighed in.
    3 bass over 5 pounds were weighed in.
    2 bass over 6 pounds were weighed in.

    13 cash places were paid, along with 14 sponsor prizes from Susquehanna Tackle, Bass Cat, River Bottom Reels, Zee Bait Company, Steak & Main Restaurant , BUFF USA, Hi Seas fishing line, Nichols Lures, Batteries+ , Gruv Fishing Boxes, Native Tungsten Weights, Venom Lures and GRT Jigs.

    25 boats participated in $ 60 option pot which paid 3 spots.

    $ 6,584 in cash was paid along with $ 750 in sponsor prizes.

    First place cash payout and championship plaques went to Zachary Page and James Easley . The pair found the right bites to bring in a 5 fish limit of 20.87 Lbs to take home the win and nice chunk of change over 2 grand.
    Included in that impressive bag was the Susquehanna Fishing Tackle 2nd lunker a 6.05 fat girl that netted them a $ 50 SFT card.
    The Team also took home an additional $ 900 by entering the $ 60 Option Pot and taking first place cash there.

    Second place cash went to the team of David Seemans and Dave Seemans. The team put together an outstanding 5 fish limit weighing in at 18.64 Lbs.
    The pair also entered the $ 60 Option Pot, taking home 2nd place cash from that voluntary pot.
    Included in their bag was a 5.49 Lb. big girl that was the Batteries Plus 4th lunker for the tournament, winning them a $ 50 Batteries Plus Store gift card.

    Third place money was won by the team of Sam Montalto and Jim Hauck who brought a 5 fish limit to the scales that topped out at 17.56 Lbs. Their big fish weighed in at 4.70 Lbs.
    Impressive bag on a tough day.


    Fourth place dough was earned by the team of Joe Thompson and Mike Acord who weighed in a 5 fish limit for 17.51 Lbs with a big fish of 4.92 pounds, another good limit of Upper Bay bass.
    The team also took home 3rd place cash in the $ 60 Option Pot.


    Fifth place coin went to the team of John Valdez and Gene Lewis who weighed in a nice 5 fish limit of 17.32 Lbs with their big bass going 4.04 pounds. Great work on the day.


    Sixth place cash was collected by the team of Luke Shrader and Cliff Humphreys who brought 5 fish to the scales for 17.26 Lbs.
    The team also took home the Bass Cat marine parts store 3rd lunker award, a $ 50.00 gift card to the parts store with a big fish of 5.78 pounds.

    Seventh place money was snagged by the team of Keith Cowan and Nate Cowan with a 5 fish limit weighing 16.46 Lbs.
    Included in that impressive bag was the CCBM Tournament Lunker, a 6.17 fat girl that was worth an additional
    $ 620 in lunker payout. Nice work.


    Eighth place money spot was secured by the team of Jason Basta and Dustin Basta who had a 5 bass limit for 16.25 pounds with a big bass of 4.79 pounds.


    Ninth place cash was collected by the team of Duane Essick and Jay Pirollo who brought 5 fish to the scales for 16.01 Lbs. with a big fish of 5.33 lbs.


    Tenth place money was collected by the team of Travis Manson and Brian Stockl who brought 5 fish to the table for 14.98 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.30 lbs.


    Eleventh place cash went to the team of Dave Wilder and Steve Jago who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.97 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.11 Lbs.


    Twelfth money spot was won by by the team of John Shumate and Donald Haskins who brought 5 fish to the scales for 14.70 Lbs. with a big fish of 3.87 lbs.


    13th and final cash spot was won by the 2018 CCBM Opens points Champs Mike Piccolo and Bill Ville looking to make it 2 years in a row. The team brought in 5 bass for 14.48 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.98 pounds.


    14th thru 16th spots won gift cards from Zee Bait Company, River Bottom Reels and Steak & Main restaurant of North East.

    First team to finish just out of the money was awarded a $ 75.00 gift card from Zee Bait Company a local plastic manufacturer from Chester Springs, Pa.

    14th position and the Zee Bait card went to Mike Sentore and and Sean McKee who brought 5 bass to the scale weighing 14.35 Lbs. with a big fish of 4.10 lbs.


    15th place and a $ 50.00 River Bottom Reels card for reel repair and maintenance from Kevin Geesey in Elizabethown, Pa. was collected by the team of Dale Gorrell and Duke Nave who brought 4 fish to the table for 13.44 Lbs. and a big fish of 4.65 Lbs.

    16th place earned a $ 50 Steak & Main restaurant card. Located on Main St. in North East, and rated one of the top Steak house in the Mid Atlantic.
