Best all around prop for 20xd , 225 promax.

Ive got a 99 20xd with a 225 promax. Sport master lower and 14 inch plate. Im running a 25p trophy plus now.( was on the boat when i bought it) Im hearing alot about the promax props. 26p is what im hearing i need to buy. The boat is loaded pretty light for fishing. Any suggestions on a good fishing prop and what kind of speeds i should look for with a load? Im not able to run the trophy above the pad without loosing speed. The trophy will run 78 to 80 1 inch above with just me in the boat. I have to lower it to 1 inch below when a partner gets in to make it run 76mph. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks

I had a 2005 20xrd and 225 promax with a coned tm. I ran a 27 Bravo 1xs at 3/4" above. Not the fastest prop for top end, but the holeshot was awesome. I carried Bass Pro Shops in the boat and with a partner and their gear, it would run 79. I can't speak for the promax props on that combo, but a buddy ran a Pro ET on his 20xdc/225 and it was 83-84 with 2 people loaded, but you give up some on the holeshot.

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Ive heard the bravos were a little quicker out the hole but not as fast on top as the promax.

A Tempest 27" works good on your combo.

What about a bravo xs? I've heard good things about them also.

I’m real interested in this post as well as I have the same boat & motor and fish in the same circumstances. Mine has a 25P Tempest and does real good on holeshot but loses on top end. It’s been good so far while I learn to drive the bullet. I have also been told to get a 26P promax or Trophy. I’m interested to see what everyone recommends.

this is what you want on that combo, I have same setup but mine is a 92 so it’s a little lighter but would run 82-84 solo light fishing load or 79-80 with two and full fuel. Those 2.5’s will turn that 27xs fine, mine would turn a little tight solo but was just right for two. Ran it 1/2-3/4 above and it drove very well.
    Thanks, Nate
