998 back light isues

Display voltage, just set this afternoon, started going off at 11 volts. I took my meter and I show 12.4 at the battery. So, do I have old/bad wiring? IF you thin so, why did my Lowrance elite 7 chirp now have these symptoms?

Did your Elite 7 have Structure Scan and had to support the Scan frequencies?

No structure scan, just down scan/sonar/maping. One thing to note, the transducer I have only does down scan and sonar, not side scan is what he told me. I have not paid a dime for this unit yet.............................

You definitely have a wiring problem. You shouldn't drop any more than a couple tenths of a volt if your wiring is properly sized and your connections are all good.

I now realize the wiring is an issue. What a PITA this is going to be to run dedicated wires.

I was lucky enough to fish the other morning for about 3.5 hours and the bird rand on sonar the whole time, never cut off, but the low voltage warning stayed on the screen the whole time. Maybe I can get new wires ran this weekend.
