    Pitchin' and Flippin' Practice

Sometimes when the weather is bad or the lakes are frozen I practice pitching and flipping at home. I use a 5 ft rod and knock over beer cans that I set up on my basement floor. Do any of you practice at home when you can't get out? If so, what's your preferred target?

I have 2 Chihuahuas and a Pug...and a wife and 14 year old daughter. They all run when they see me and my flipping stick walk into the living room!

It figures that a guy with a Champ 187 would have a great idea like this one!

I'm not seeing that a 5' rod would be a good thing to practice with. Understand that the ceiling might be too low to use a real flipping rod, but still....

I used to stand on the first step of my deck and pitch to cups I'd put around the yard.

My fear with using a 5ft rod is it’s way different than a 7+ jig rod or even a 6+ rod. I’m guessing there isn’t a 5ft bait caster but maybe a busted bigger rod made down to a 5fter. If I cut two feet off the top of my jig rod it’s action would be way different. If all you can use is a 5ft rod by all means pitch away but it’s going to be different in game situations
