    Budget A rig rod!?

Currently using an academy H20 7’6” Xheavy. It’s been a dandy for several years but I’ve replaced half the eyes on it and it’s on its last leg. Are there any good A rig rods out there at a decent price? Looking for 7’6 to 7’11

I grabbed one of the Megabass Levante Launcher rods (7’11”) from TW during their Classic sale, it was a little over $100. I’m planning to throw a-rigs and big swimbaits with it.

edit: looks like they are sold out now.

I have been using the Daiwa Kage 791MHRB A-Rig rod and love it! The rod has just enough tip for bombing a long cast and lots of back bone for fighting the fish. Also makes for a hell of a 5 and 6 inch bullshad rod.

I throw light A-rigs with the iRod GII Fred's Magic Stick. But if I go more than 1/8oz heads and small keitechs I'd use Jr. Swimbait rod. Get them from LBF with the 25% off and they are like $112.

Anybody with knowledge on these rods? I generally throw a 5 wire 8 blade rig with 5 1/8oz heads and keitech fays 3.8 and 4.3’s. Im currently using a skeet reese a rig rod but its on its last leg. I hate to throw a ton of money at something i dont throw a lot

Either of those rods could easily handle that rig you are throwing. I would personally opt for the 795. I actually went from a 795 down to a 794 in the champion line for medium/small A rigs and glide baits.

I throw my A-rigs (mostly 1/4oz heads) on that FR795SB and I love it! It loads real nice when you go to heave that chandelier out there!

Lewis American hero 7'6 heavy would be perfect. And it's cheap. I got mine for 60 bucks

I throw my A rigs on a Dobyns 804c. It does great with lighter rigs.

Alot of people will say the fury 795sb. I think its too stiff if your throwing 1/4 heads and things like 3" keitechs or swimmin fluke jrs. I like a good crank bait rod for flash mob jrs. And the cheapest rod Ive used for that that works well is that black and white berkley e motion 7'9" cranking rod. Only down fall is the reel seat can come unglued if you crank the handle on the reel seat to tightly. I bet you can find one local at a walmart or somthing for less than $70.

Using the champ 806cb currently, it launches the smaller rigs good, and loads up nice with braid.

I would use the 806cb as well with braid. I use the 804c with 16lb gamma flouro.
