Back in the 90s on our annual Texas trips we flipped jigs in timber all day every day. Seems now days you only hear and see guys flipping plastics. Anyone still flip a jig in timber down there these days?

If you can find brush in the water - all day long.
Nope, total waste of time and effort!
I've been known to flip a jig now & again ...
Better have one on deck for Falcon, Feb we flipped jigs all day for Champs.
Ray Bob is the lake in my mind that I'm thinking about. Seems everyone has gone to plastics cause they get more bites. Would think jigs would catch bigger fish but just don't seem to see or hear about them as much anymore.
Flip a jig all winter and quite a bit in spring and fall. I like flipping rocks as much as timber. Crawfish likes rocks too!!!
I flip trees a lot. Almost always with a jig.
I don't enjoy it, but I usually keep one on the deck. It can pay off. Bigly.
I flip a jig a lot. I keep one tied on! I will flip plastic too but I love a jig bite. Kinda let the fish decide what I do more of that day.
Black and Blue Jig with Green pumpkin trailer is my favorite setup. Trees, rocks, retaining walls, deep structure. My partner may catch more fish on plastic but, more times that not, I will catch the better fish during a tournament.
I think you see plastics being used more since you can Texas rig them and they are a bit less prone to getting snagged than a jig.
If they dont eat plastics, def try throwing a jig down there too though.

I flip Santone rattling jigs all the time and get bit...
I make my own jigs so I get to make my own colors and more and more I find myself just making lots of green pumpkin jigs with blue strands. then I put a green pumpkin trailer on it. it's a great compromise between black and blue and green pumpkin and makes my "decision" less "stressful". ahahaha, I know you guys know what I'm talking about :)
