Anyone carry basic first aid kit on the boat?

Yes. I would imagine just about everyone does. I would also imagine that in many states it is required.

A good thing to carry is the old style toothache medicine in the little glass bottle. If you get a hook lodged in you swab some of that around the area and it will quickly numb the nerves making for a less painless extraction.

That makes good sense. I have a typical kit plus some added items. A hook extraction kit, sting kill swabs, allergy headache upset stomach medacines.

I have been thinking about buying some of that bood clotting stuff made from shellfish to have in case something really bad happens. Anything short of needing that stuff I will likely just wrap a towel around it.

I have a very extensive first aid kit I bought that contains stuff I wouldn't even begin to know how to use, but my fishing partner is an RN. So, the kit is primarily for him to save my ass. In addition to the kit, I carry a small set of bolt cutters that will cut the narliest flipping hook made.

If you ever fish a pike tournament, you’ll want to top up the bandaid section of your kit. Culling frisky northerns can be tricky business, and no, it’s not the teeth that’ll get you as much as the gill rakers will.

Yep, when I got my boat last year the wife bought me a 12” by 12” zippered first aid kit. Not 100% sure what all is in it but it goes with me every time I’m on the boat!

Yep, one in the passenger console at all times and one in the truck. I have little ones with me on the boat frequently, but you just never know when something like that is needed.

Great idea! All I've used to this point are pliers, some elbow grease, band-aids and a whole lott'a bad words => which helps a little!

Whether you even carry a band aide or not, dont get in your
boat w/o a set of side cutters that can cut any hook that
you use. Dont just assume the ones you have will get the job done,
try them out, before necessity calls. LDS
